The Research on Emotions in and around Organizations Standing Track (REO) seeks to establish an international forum dedicated to the exploration and critical dialogue surrounding contemporary and emergent themes pertaining to emotions within the realms of organizational studies, management, and marketing research. During the four-year period starting in 2026 and running to 2029, the REO Standing Track will cultivate a vibrant Nordic scholarly community with a shared interest in advancing the understanding of emotions in organizational contexts. This initiative aspires to foster interdisciplinary collaborations that will manifest in co-authored publications, research applications, course curriculum, and pedagogical methodologies.
The REO Standing Track embraces diverse ontological and epistemological perspectives to better understand the complexity and subjective nature of emotions in organizational, managerial and marketing dynamics. While the scope of research topics and empirical settings remains broad and diverse, there is a particular emphasis on contributions that highlight the mechanisms and contextual nuances of emotion dynamics in Nordic organizational contexts. At the same time, the track is keenly interested in expanding theoretical and empirical insights into how emotions intersect with pressing contemporary issues such as the integration of artificial intelligence in workplaces, the complexities of hybrid work models, emergent alternative organizational forms, the organizational responses to climate change challenges, and the emotional dimensions of geopolitical conflict.
Through facilitating an inclusive platform for scholars from across the Nordic countries to exchange knowledge, share methodological innovations, and initiate collaborative research projects, the REO Standing Track aims to advance the scholarly discourse on emotions in organizations.
