April-June 2025, online and in Gothenburg, Sweden

Human Resource Management (HRM) is a multidisciplinary field that draws on research from management studies, sociology, pedagogy, work science, and more. This course delves into key areas of contemporary HRM research, with a special focus on institutional changes in the field. Topics will include flexible work arrangements, employee wellbeing, digitalization, competence and talent management, as well as the evolving role of employees in self-leadership and distributed leadership. We will also examine the structure and role of the HR function itself.

A distinct feature of this course is the involvement of lecturers active in the Cranet Study, allowing participants to explore the unique characteristics of HRM in the Nordic countries. By including instructors from all five Nordic nations, participants will gain insights into both the commonalities and the variations in HRM practices across the region.
